An Arts Therapy Workshop Series

Using the arts to support your mental health, connect to your inner wise-mama and remember your essence.

Hey mama,

If you've found yourself here, then I already know that some part of you is ready to receive the support and space you need. And there's probably a pretty good chance that you're on a waitlist for a Psych or you're wanting an alternative to talk therapy.

Motherhood is big. So much bigger than we are made to believe.

It's the reckoning of our emerging identity- a falling away from who we were, and a whirlwind of joy, love and grief.

Somewhere in the chaos of caring for mini humans, we are expected to be strong, joyful, organised, social, asking for help when we need it, keep our kids on a schedule, filling our cups with self care, staying emotionally regulated 24/7 and be the perfect partner, employee etc.  URGHH. Where are we given space just to be HUMAN?!. .. Just to be us, again.

Shortly after having my mini, I was hit with the realisation that in society's eyes, I became a shadow of my gorgeous little girl. Not only did my world centre around her.. but so did everyone else's who came to know her. And for the most part this was wonderful and heartwarming, until there was less and less of me in the space. I became transparent. Everyone would look straight through me. No-one seeing the overwhelm, the loneliness, the MENTAL LOAD, the sleep deprivation, the tears when she fell asleep.. and if someone asked how I was and I replied honestly, they would meet my overwhelm with as "you think this is bad, just wait until..." or "soak it up. It will be gone before you know it" or "you're just so lucky to have such a good baby".

I held it all in. Until I couldn't.

When I asked for mental health support, I was sent directly to psychologist- alone in that tiny office I sat, trying to answer questions and talk about feelings I didn't understand- struggling to put a sentence together due to fatigue and having my mind constantly drifting to "is my baby ok?". My feelings didn't have words and my body was tired of trying to rationalise and "catch my thoughts".

So I decided to ditch talk therapy.

I leaned into my professional background and used the arts to find myself again. But the game changer was.. I didn't do it alone. You don't have to either.

And we're here to share with you how I used Arts Therapy to find support, connect with my inner wise mama and remember the ESSENCE of who I am- all while transforming into who I was always meant to be as mother.
